Wisdom From the Psalms

February 1

Psalms 14:1

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

The Reverend Dave Scott stood trembling at the doorway to the sanctuary. During the night, vandals had broken into the church. They hadn’t taken anything, but they had destroyed just about everything. Windows were shattered, pews splintered, Bible ripped apart. Reverend Scott felt a terrible sickness in the pit of his stomach. Who could do such things? Was nothing sacred anymore?

We need to ask ourselves these questions, because we face such situations all the time. Terrible things are done all around us, and often they happen without regard or respect for things we hold sacred. Foolish people hold our God in contempt, and we can only find consolation in the fact that the Lord sees all, and His justice will one day be done. For us, we must hold onto His goodness and His strength so we can endure such inconceivable crimes. Our Lord is greater than the “things” foolish people destroy. His will be done!

Prayer: O Lord, while the evil days keep coming, grant me strength enough to endure until the end. Remind me that I worship you, and nothing any man or woman can do will ever destroy that. Amen.

Women Coming Together in the New Year

Do you know that “We are all Special”, God has a Special Place in His Heart for all Women.

God has a Plan for all Women, right from the beginning of time; God orchestrated what the Role of Women would be. Our Chief role is to be Helpers. Looking at Genesis when God created Adam and Eve, she was created to be a helper to Adam.

For example, we are a Helper/Support to our Husband’s, Children, Other Members of our family. Friend’s, those we work with, neighbors and those in our communities we live in.

Just think; when God created Man and Women, He made us different for many reasons.

Looking at the complex side of how God made our Brains and how we respond emotionally and physically to what surrounds us. God had a marvelous plan in how He structured us and how we are wired…

The way God made our brains is much different than how He made a Man’s Brain…

Men and Women do not behave, feel, think or respond in the same ways.

The human brain is by far the most complex and highly organized structure of the body. • This organ allows us to think, move, feel, see, hear, taste, and smell. • It controls our body, receives, analyzes, and stores information. • The brain produces electrical signals, which, together with chemical reactions, let the parts of the body communicate. Nerves send these signals throughout the body.

Amygdala, is the first to respond to an emotional event, Shaped like an almond, the amygdala is responsible for multiple emotional responses, like love, fear, anger…It is connected to the Hippocampus which has a role in sending information to the amygdala. One of the memory processing centers of the brain, the hippocampus interacts with the amygdala when a person has memories with emotional ties.

Just think, picturing the Hands of God who molded and shaped our lives to function in the Role of Helper/Help-Meet to those He brings a long our path.

God’s Word states in Jeremiah 18:1-3

The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make. Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!

Jeremiah 29:11  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Just think, when a woman submits to the Hand of God, committing our lives to the Will of God there is no telling what He will do with Women who say Thy Will be Done, not mine but Your Will.

As a Helper we can do many things, we can work in our community supporting ministries, organizations that reach out and touch lives for the Kingdom. We can make a difference in people’s lives, by witnessing and sharing the Love of God wherever we go, In our work places, we fulfill God’s Will in our lives there,  we come alongside others in our community, church, home and help those to reach their intended purpose that God has for them.  In ministry, working alongside our Pastor in our given churches, we all have roles as Women, we all have been given Gifts and we are all Helpers that can be used wherever God takes and places us for the Kingdom of God.  Being His Hands extended…

So this New Year of 2017; are you ready to raise the bar, put self aside, whatever is hindering you from being the Women God intends you to be?
